Senior Field Engineer - Telematics

Our Culver City, CA client is on the hunt for a Senior Field Engineer to join their team on a direct hire basis. This person must have experience in Telematics.

About the Job:

As our Senior Field Engineer you will have the opportunity to shape the way our product connectivity will interact with commercial vehicles through Telematics . You will develop and maintain relationships with truck drivers and their fleet managers with the goal of helping to resolve and debug commercial vehicle issues. You will help steer the direction of communication to commercial vehicles and our hardware. Responsibilities:

  • Perform field visits and debug automotive interfaces. (CAN, J1939, J1708, and OBD2.)
  • Analyze CAN bus logs to support in resolving vehicle specific issues and report back to home office.
  • Directly interact and support the end user, drivers and/or fleet managers.
  • Use hardware tools such as multimeters and oscilloscopes to troubleshoot firmware behavior.
  • Remove dash panels and trim pieces for installation of ELD units.
  • Foster a team environment by communicating with various departments to bring the best product to our customers.
  • Participate in meetings either in person or via online communication.
  • Reports to the Global COO.

What you will bring to the team:

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A./B.S.) from a four year college or university in computer science, electrical engineering, or a related field; and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Tech Savvy and ability to learn applications and software quickly.
  • Demonstrable experience in utilizing CAN bus logs and identifying anomalous signals to root-cause system faults and failures, and debugging.
  • Familiarity with CAN network function and communications protocols. (J1708, J1939, OBD2)
  • Knowledge of vehicle systems, subsystems and electronic components.
  • Basic PC skills, Microsoft tools (Word, Excel), and Google drive.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • 25%-50% Travel.
