Safety Improvement Specialist
Our client in The Woodlands, TX is seeking a Safety Improvement Specialist to join their team.   This is a Direct Hire position and the chance to make an immediate impact with a great organization.

This is an opportunity to join an established company that continues to grow.  This chemical company is the 2nd and 3rd largest producer, respectively, in the Americas for their specific products, and has won multiple awards for Safety and Environmental Excellence.  They sit in a beautiful office in The Woodlands business district yet maintain a global reach. 

Your Role:
The Safety Improvement Manager will assist with developing and driving the company’s internal safety standards.  While overall safety improvement is the focus of the organization, the initial effort will largely be an improvement project in personal safety.  Primary duties would include developing company safety standards and practices; implementing key processes throughout the company; lead root cause investigations as needed; evaluates industry standards and practices for consideration of adding to the company procedures; analysis of EH&S performance of personal safety and develop projects to drive greater performance; and manages personal safety metrics to communicate to the appropriate parties.
The ideal candidate for the Safety Improvement role would have a strong grounding in federal and state safety regulations, be well-versed in writing/compiling content curated from other sources, as well as familiarity in how to implement them.  Strong leadership and communication skills are necessary to invite collaboration from various teams and work groups across multiple locations.  This an exciting opportunity for a safety professional to really affect and drive change within an organization.

Background Profile:
Degree is required for this position, science or engineering field
5-7 minimum years of experience in EH&S, 5+ years in Petrochem industry
Expertise in advanced personal safety management at the site or company level  
Strong grounding in federal and state safety regulations 
Ability to interact successfully with all levels of plant personnel, professional peers, and corporate leadership
Strong communication, time management skills, and experience influencing change are key to this position 
Available for limited travel (15-20%)
