Are you an experienced Recoupment / Refund Specialist looking to get to work quickly?  If so, we have a contract to possible hire opportunity with a growing company in Arlington, TX.

One of the largest medical practices in North Texas
Four locations 


Recoupment / Refund Specialist Role:
The Recoupment / Refund Specialist will handle claims for commercial, state, and federal payers and will work with accounts following up on insurance recoupments and refund requests.
Responsibilities will include doing research, and appealing and adjusting claims based on payer information
Work with insurance companies on A/R follow up on recoupments
Research requests for refunds and recoupments and their validity
Appeal recoupments as necessary
Contact insurance companies to determine what was overpaid and why, and pend refund requests
Maintain accurate and detailed notes of research on account recoupment, where was made from
Refunds insurance companies on accurately overpaid claims in a timely manner
This role will issue refund checks with approval from CFO
Works with the 60-day limit to make sure all Medicare refund requests are worked and resolved
Contacts patients as needed to confirm information received by insurance companies
Assists with department training by reporting on trends on cpt codes recoupments/refunds
On a daily basis will work closely with the Revenue Cycle Manager, and also ensures recoupments are posted correctly for daily balancing
The ideal candidate will have knowledge of Orthopedic Coding and bundling guidelines
Works with insurance companies over the phone and email daily
Maintains up to date guidelines on payor recoupment processes


Recoupment / Refund Specialist Background Profile:
High School Diploma or the equivalent
Associates degree or Bachelor’s degree is a plus
1.5 years + experience working in a physician group practice billing department
Experience with CPT and ICD-10 coding
Experience in orthopedics/orthopedic specialty is preferred
Strong computer skills
Keyboard skills, and working knowledge of practice management software
The ideal candidate will have experience/knowledge of third party payer reimbursement guidelines, and establishing relationships with insurance companies.
This is a project oriented position, so experience working in a project oriented position is preferred
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Excellent phone voice
Professional and polished appearance and demeanor
